The P-61 Black Widow was introduced by Northrop in 1944. It was one of the era's most modern aircraft, and the first ever specifically designed to use radar. Though it first saw combat duty in Europe, the Black Widow had its greatest success helping the Allies secure victory against the Japanese the following year.
This model represents the P-61B “Coopers Snooper” , bureau number 42-39454, piloted by 1st Lt George C Cooper. of the 548th Night Fighter Squadron, 1945. The model features signature nose art, engraved panel line, glazed canopy, radar operator’s compartment, detailed radial engines, rotating propellers, optional-position landing gear, authentic markings, and a display stand.
