The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, sometimes called G-Wagen is a mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV. The G-wagen is characterized by its boxy styling and body on frame construction. It was developed as a military vehicle and first introduced to civilians in 1979, it is still in production. It was not available in the United States until 2002 and was sold as the Mercedes-Benz G500.
