The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation, single-seat, twin-engine, all-weather stealth tactical fighter aircraft developed for the United States Air Force (USAF). The result of the USAF's Advanced Tactical Fighter program, the aircraft was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but also has ground attack, electronic warfare, and signal intelligence capabilities. The prime contractor, Lockheed Martin, built most of the F-22's airframe and weapons systems and conducted final assembly, while Boeing provided the wings, aft fuselage, avionics integration, and training systems.
The Hobby Master 1/72 F-22A Raptor die-cast model pays tribute to the 525th Fighter Squadron, a combat-ready unit of the United States Air Force. The 525th, part of the 3rd Operations Group at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, has a long history dating back to its original activation as the 309th Bombardment Squadron in 1942. Today, the squadron is equipped with the advanced Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor, capable of rapid worldwide deployment to conduct precision engagements against surface targets using a variety of conventional air-to-surface munitions. The 525th Fighter Squadron specializes in strategic attack, interdiction, suppression of enemy air defenses, and both offensive and defensive air-to-air combat operations, making this model a fitting representation of a unit dedicated to maintaining air superiority.
As with most Hobby Master models, this F-22A features engraved panel lines, antennas, surface details and authentic squadron markings. The canopy opens and reveals a well-appointed cockpit (with instrumentation details). The model also comes with a full weapons complement, optional-position landing gear and a display stand.
Great care should be taken when handling this model. This is a great addition to your diecast aircraft collection.
