The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a family of single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole fighters. The fifth-generation combat aircraft is designed to perform ground-attack and air-superiority missions. It has three main models: the F-35A conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) variant, the F-35B short take-off and vertical-landing (STOVL) variant, and the F-35C carrier-based catapult-assisted take-off but arrested recovery (CATOBAR) variant
The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the aircraft. Similar in size to the A variant, the B sacrifices about a third of the A variant's fuel volume to accommodate the vertical flight system. The U.S. Marine Corps plans to purchase 340 F-35B and 80 F-35C models[345] to replace current inventories of both the F/A-18 Hornet (A, B, C and D-models), and the AV-8B Harrier II, in the fighter and attack roles
This F-35B model by Air Force 1 represents a plane from the 461st Flight Test Squadron stationed at Edwards Air Force Base, California The squadron’s primary goal is flight test of the F-35. The model is highly detailed with squadron markings, panel lines, detailed cockpit with pilot figure. The model can be displayed with multiple optional configurations, Flight mode or VTOL mode, open or closed weapons bays and extended landing gear. The model also comes with a metal display stand.
This F-35B is a worthy addition to your diecast aircraft collection.
