In November 1968, VAH-2 underwent a re-designation, emerging as Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 132 (VAQ-132). By January 1971, VAQ-132, known as the Scorpions, achieved a significant milestone as the first unit to receive the newly introduced EA-6B Prowler, thereby becoming the inaugural operational Prowler squadron. Prior to this transition, the squadron had been outfitted with the Douglas KA-3B/EKA-3B Skywarrior since 1968. Situated at Whidbey Island, Washington, VAQ-132 has long called this base its home. In 2009, the venerable Prowler made way for the Boeing EA-18G Growler. Noteworthy deployments include support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and 2007, with EA-6B 161350 c/n P-94 among the deployed aircraft.
This highly detailed Hobby Master model represents EA-6B Prowler, bureau number 161350, assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 132 (VAQ-132) “Scorpions” AA500 from 2006 during the squadron’s deployment on the USS John F Kennedy November 2006.
As with most Hobby Master models this EA-6B features engraved panel lines, antennas, surface detail, aircrew figures, canopy can be shown in open position, a well-appointed cockpit (with instrumentation details), full weapons complement, optional-position landing gear, authentic squadron markings, and a display stand.
