The industry-leading quality and efficiency of Airbus’ A320 Family – of which the A321 is a member – has been further enhanced with its new engine option (NEO) jetliner versions. For the A321neo, Airbus expanded seating capacity with optimized use of cabin space, increased exit limits and a new cabin door configuration. This “Cabin-Flex” option increased the jetliner’s maximum capacity to 244 seats, while still providing high levels of passenger comfort. The A321neo has a range of 7400 km.
While no freighter version of the A321 have been built new by Airbus, a first attempt of converting used A320/321 into freighter aircraft was undertaken by Airbus Freighter Conversion GmbH. The program, however, was canceled in 2011 before any aircraft were converted. On 17 June 2015, ST Aerospace signed agreements with Airbus and EFW for a collaboration to launch the A320/A321 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion program. The initial converted aircraft first flew on 22 January 2020. On 27 October 2020, the first A321-200P2F was delivered to launch operator Qantas Airways.
This Gemini Jets diecast 1/400 scale model is of Airbus A321P2F registration VH-ULD decorated with the new Qantas Freight Australian Post livery. The aircraft was originally delivered for passenger use in 1998. Conversion to a freighter started in 2018 and was delivered to Qantas Freight in Oct 2020.
This model is a great addition to your diorama or aircraft collection.
