Alexander’s Macedonian Cavalry 1/72 Scale Model Plastic Figures

The ancient Macedonian army had both heavy and light cavalry. For the first time in Greek warfare, cavalry became a decisive arm in battle. The Macedonian army perfected the co-ordination of different troop types, an early example of combined arms tactics — the heavy infantry phalanx, skirmish infantry, archers, light cavalry and heavy cavalry, and siege engines were all deployed in battle; each troop type being used to its own particular advantage and creating a synergy of mutual support.

This Hat Industries set is of Macedonian cavalry from the time of Alexander the Great.  The set contains 4 poses of cavalry.  3 poses of Macedonian heavy cavalry and 1 of light cavalry. The heavy cavalry is representative of the Companion cavalry which was the elite contingent of the Macadonian army. They wear the boeotian helmet with plumes out of the top and are aremed with a xyston spear. The light cavalry figure is representative of Prodormoi which is Thracian.  The light cavalry were used mainly for scouting.
