The Warrior tracked vehicle family is a series of British armored vehicles, originally developed to replace the older FV430 series of armored vehicles. The Warrior started life as the MCV-80, "Mechanized Combat Vehicle for the 1980's". One of the requirements of the new vehicle was a top speed able to keep up with the projected new MBT, the MBT-80 - later cancelled and replaced by what became the Challenger 1 - which the then-current FV432 could not. The project was begun in the 1970s. GKN Defense won the production contract in 1980. GKN Defense was purchased by BAE Systems, via Alvis plc.
The Warrior has a 30mm cannon. And a 7.62 mm coaxial chain gun. The Warrior has a crew of 3 with room for 7 troops, maximum road speed of 46 mph, maximum off road speed of 31 mph and a range of 410 miles.
A total of 789 FV510 and variants were manufactured for the British Army, and 254 of a modified version (Desert Warrior) were produced for the Kuwaiti Army.
This Eaglemoss model represents British Army MCV-80 Warrior. The turret rotates but does not elevate. The tracks are fitted rubber but do not move. As with all Eaglemoss models the model has detailed panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
This model is a great addition to your diorama or collection.
