The Mitsubishi A6M "Zero" is a long-range fighter aircraft formerly manufactured by Mitsubishi Aircraft Company, a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1940 to 1945. The A6M was designated as the Mitsubishi Navy Type 0 carrier fighter. The first flight occurred April 1^st 1939 and introduced into service July 1^st 1940.  It was retired at the end of World War II. Approximately 10,900 aircraft were built.

This model represents a Zero from the 261^st Naval Air Corps on Saipan.

The model is made by Air Force One under the brand name of Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The model has no landing gear and is displayed as if in flight.
