The Crusader was prototyped as a cruiser tank in 1939 and became the basis of the British tank flow that followed the Cromwell, Comet, Centurion, and Chieftain, and approximately 5,300 were produced. During the war, the British Army shared two types of tanks: cruiser tanks and infantry support tanks called infantry tanks. Cruiser tanks were faster and more heavily armed than infantry tanks, and were especially tasked with anti-tank combat, but in Africa they had a tough time against Germany's No. 3 and No. 4 tanks. The Crusader's first battle was in June 1941 in a battle near Fort Capzo, and from then on it fought bravely on the front lines in Tunisia until the end of the North African battle.
There were three types of Crusaders. The Mk.I is equipped with a 2-pound gun and has a small Besa machine gun turret on the front of the vehicle. Mk.II is a type with reinforced armor by removing the small turret. Mk.III was a type whose main gun was strengthened to a 6-pound gun.
Production started in May 1942 and 144 were completed by July. The Crusader III first saw action, with about 100 participating, at the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942.
This model is a great addition to your diorama or armor collection.
