The Bell UH-1 Iroquois (nicknamed "Huey") is a utility military helicopter powered by a single turboshaft engine which became famous for its use during the Vietnam War. It is the most widely used military helicopter in the world. More than 16,000 has been built since 1960, used for MedEvac, troop and cargo transport and air assault.
The US Navy's Helicopter Training Squadron Eighteen (HT-18) was established in 1972 and is based in Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Florida. It offers advanced helicopter pilot training of student aviators for the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard and selected foreign military flight students. HT-18 used TH-1L Iroquois (modified UH-1) from 1972 until it was replaced by TH-57C Sea Ranger in the early 1980's.
This Daron Postage Stamp 1/87 scale model is a replica of a H-1L “Huey” from the US Navy Helicopter Training Squadron Eighteen (HT-18).
