The Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet is a twin-engine multi-role carrier-based aircraft. The “E” variant is single-seater while the “F” variant is a tandem-seat configuration. The “E” is a much larger, more advanced and more capable variant of the F/A-18C. The Super variant can carry a larger array of weapons as well as more of them and can return to the carrier while still carrying unspent munitions, a big savings in dollars. The first F/A-18E flight was in 1995 and began delivery to the USN in 1999.
The Strike Fighter Squadron 14 (VFA-14) "Tophatters" are a United States Navy fighter attack squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore. They fly the F/A-18E Super Hornet, and are the Navy's oldest active squadron, having formed in 1919. Their callsign is Camelot, and their tail code is NG.
This JC Wings model is replica of Boeing F/A-18E (Bureau Number 168927) NG 200 from Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 14 “Tophatters” displayed in “Squadron 100th Year Anniversary” livery 2019. VFA-14 in 2019 was part of Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) while on deployment aboard CVN-74 USS John C. Stennis.
As with most JC Wings models this F/A-18E features engraved panel lines, antennas, surface details an opening canopy, a well-appointed cockpit (with instrumentation details), full weapons complement, optional-position landing gear, authentic squadron markings.
This F/A-18E is a great addition to your diecast aircraft collection.
