The Soviet BA-6 armored car, used during World War II, was a six-wheeled, heavy armored vehicle designed primarily for reconnaissance and infantry support. It was based on the chassis of a GAZ-AAA truck and was armed with a 45 mm 20-K gun, the same as found on the T-26 light tank, along with a 7.62 mm DT machine gun. The BA-6 featured sloped armor to deflect small arms fire and shrapnel, though it was vulnerable to anti-tank weapons. With a maximum speed of around 50 km/h (31 mph), it was relatively fast and could traverse rough terrain thanks to its all-wheel drive and large tires, which could be fitted with chains for additional traction. Despite its strengths, the BA-6's limited armor and weaponry meant it was outclassed as the war progressed, leading to its gradual replacement by more advanced armored vehicles.
