The real Boeing F/A-18C Hornet was developed by McDonnell Douglas and Northrop during the 1970s as a highly capable multirole fighter. With a top speed of Mach 1.8, the Hornet became the first modern jet designed to perform both fighter and attack roles, excelling in missions ranging from fleet defense and air interdiction to close air support and the suppression of enemy defenses. This Postage Stamp 1/150 scale collector model recreates the aircraft flown by Strike Fighter Squadron 83, known as the “Rampagers,” a storied U.S. Navy unit established in the 1950s. VFA-83 operated the F/A-18C from 1987 until its transition to the F/A-18E Super Hornet in 2018.
