The Fokker Dr.I (Dreidecker, "triplane" in German), often known simply as the Fokker Triplane, was a World War I fighter aircraft built by Fokker-Flugzeugwerke. The Dr.I saw widespread service in the spring of 1918. The wing design was a tremendous breakthrough in aircraft development. However, in the early stages, many 'triplanes' suffered wing failures in flight resulting in fatal crashes. Investigations determined that poor construction and lack of waterproofing had allowed moisture to damage the wing structure. Despite structural improvements, the Fokker triplane’s reputation among German airmen had never been regained. Production eventually ended in May 1918, by which time only 320 had been manufactured.
The Red Baron is the most recognizable aircraft of WWI. It was a German fighter with extraordinary agility but at the same time its speed was quite slow. It was piloted by a famous pilot named Manfred von Richthofen. Manfred was a flying ace of the Great War who commanded fear but also respect. The plane is often known simply as the Fokker Triplane. It became famous because Manfred claimed victories in his last 19 battles. He was ultimately killed on April 21st, 1918.
The model made of COBI construction blocks carefully recreates, in a new 1:32 scale, a historical aircraft from the Great War period. It has a movable propeller, wheels and wing ailerons. High-quality prints perfectly recreate the historical markings of the aircraft. Cobi has completely dispensed with stickers! The solid construction makes it a perfect model for both play and display. The model includes a sensational figure of a pilot: the famous Manfred von Richthofen, known as the "Red Baron". The figure of a pilot in a characteristic officer uniform can be placed in the cockpit at the controls of an aircraft armed with two machine guns. The whole set is completed with a brick with the name of the plane printed on it.
Thanks to COBI construction blocks, the legend of the great war has returned in a beautiful edition. It is the perfect model for fans of the history of aviation and inspires admiration and attracts attention. Just seeing such a colorful set, carrying with it a dose of history, it is impossible not to be fascinated.
