In 1999, Fighter Squadron 14 (VF-14) “Tophatters" commemorated their 80th year of continuous active service, solidifying their status as the oldest continuously active-duty squadron in the US Navy. Originally established at NAS San Diego in 1919 as Fighter Plane Squadron 1, the squadron has undergone fourteen name changes throughout its history and has operated twenty different types of aircraft.
This JC Wings model is a replica of F-14A Bureau Number (Buno) 162698 AJ200 painted in VF-14 80th anniversary livery. The F-14A was initially assigned to VF-33 in 1986 before being transferred to VF-32. In 1999, C/N 544 Buno 162698 was reassigned to VF-14 and adorned with the special 80th Anniversary paint scheme. However, in December 2001, the aircraft was transferred to AMARC.
Like other JC Wings models, this F-14A showcases meticulously engraved panel lines, antennas, surface details, an operable canopy, and a meticulously detailed cockpit with authentic instrumentation. The aircraft features genuine squadron markings. Adjustable elements encompass deployable speed brakes, independently movable stabilators, twin rudders with mobility, and swing-wings that can articulate through their full range of motion.
This F-14A is a great addition to your diecast aircraft collection.
