To coincide with the 40th anniversary of the anime Macross, a new series of Bandai Spirits Macross plastic models has started for the High Grade line of models, with the first being the YF-19! Adopts a new deformation mechanism that incorporates replacement parts to simplify transforming from the models 3 forms. The YF-19 model can transform into 3 forms: Battroid, Gerwalk, and Fighter. Capable of a range of motions for an increase in poseable forms.
Macross Plus is a four-episode anime Original Video Animation (OVA) and theatrical movie in the Macross series released in1995. It was the first sequel to the original Macross television series that took place in the official timeline (Macross II was quickly retconned by series creator Shōji Kawamori as a parallel world story in the Macross universe). Plus was a groundbreaking combination of traditional cel and computer-generated animation at the time of its release, paving the way for the incorporation of more computer-generated imagery in Japanese animation.
The YF-19, showcased in the Macross Plus OVA and its cinematic adaptation, the Macross Plus Movie Edition, serves as an experimental variable fighter within U.N. Spacy's Advanced Variable Fighter initiative under Project Super Nova. Isamu Alva Dyson piloted the prototype. This cutting-edge aircraft introduced several technologies that would later become standard in the next generation of variable fighters designed to meet the operational needs of the UNAF/UNS. Notable features included an active stealth system, an anti-projectile shield, an optional fold booster for interstellar travel, and a fighter-scale pin-point barrier system. The latter enveloped portions of the variable fighter in an energy barrier capable of moving across the hull to intercept and neutralize incoming attacks. The YF-19's Shinnakasu thermonuclear engines offered exceptional thrust, enabling the variable fighter to achieve orbital velocity over an Earth-class planet without external assistance.
A great addition to your collection!
