The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is an American multi-mission, tiltrotor military aircraft with both vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities. It is designed to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft. The first flight occurred on March 19th, 1989, and was introduced into service in 2007. The V-22 is currently in service with the United States Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy.
This model is a replica of a United States Marine Corps MV-22 from VMM-365 “Blue Knights’. Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 365 (VMM-365) is a tiltrotor squadron consisting of MV-22B Osprey transport aircraft. The squadron is based at Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 26 (MAG-26) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW).
This model is made by Air Force 1 under the brand name of Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The landing gear are extended permanently. There is a display stand included and model requires minor assembly.
This is a worthy addition to your diecast aircraft collection.
