Victrix is delighted to announce the release of its highly anticipated 28mm hard plastic Early Saxon Armoured Warriors set.
This set represents the upper-class warriors of the Early Saxons, Jutes, Angles, and Danes—collectively grouped under the term "Saxon"—who migrated to or invaded Britain during the 4th to 6th centuries.
The set features a variety of head options and helmet styles, along with fur cloak additions to enhance the individuality of the figures. Weapon choices include swords, spears, javelins, hand axes, and Angons with metal socketed spearheads.
Historically, these warriors not only fought the Late Romans but were also employed as mercenaries by the Romans themselves. For centuries, they battled the Romano-British for control of Britain, driving the native populations to the west and north. Early Saxon warriors often utilized smaller round shields for both parrying and offensive strikes, charging into battle while throwing javelins and then engaging in close combat with spears, swords, axes, or the distinctive Seax. The shield wall tactic later became a staple of their warfare. To accommodate historical preferences, the set includes both small bucklers and larger round shields, allowing players to depict either style.
These miniatures are versatile and can also represent other Dark Age Germanic warriors. They integrate seamlessly with figures from later Saxon and Viking sets and can even be combined with Victrix's Late Roman sets for diverse warbands. This release significantly expands Victrix's growing Dark Age range, providing endless possibilities for customization and gameplay.
