Victrix proudly announces the release of its highly anticipated 28mm hard plastic Early Saxon Unarmoured Warriors set. This versatile collection portrays the Early Saxons, Jutes, Angles, and Danes—collectively referred to as Saxons—who migrated to or invaded Britain during the 4th to 6th centuries.
The set includes a diverse array of head options, ranging from bareheaded figures to those wearing caps and various helmet styles. Fur cloaks are also provided, adding depth and character to the warriors. The weapon options are extensive, featuring swords, spears, javelins, hand axes, and Angons with socketed spearheads.
Historically, these warriors fought against the Late Romans and served as mercenaries for the Roman Empire. Over time, they battled the Romano-British for control of Britain, driving its original inhabitants to the western and northern regions. Early Saxon combat tactics included using small round shields for both parrying and offensive striking, charging while hurling javelins, and closing in with spears, swords, axes, or the distinctive Seax. Shield wall formations emerged later, and the set accommodates both styles with options for small bucklers and larger round shields.
These miniatures are not limited to representing Early Saxons; they are also suitable for other Dark Age Germanic warriors. They can be seamlessly mixed with later Saxon and Viking models, while figures from Victrix's Late Roman sets complement these warriors perfectly in warbands. This release offers incredible variety and further enriches Victrix's growing Dark Age range
