The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk first flew in the 1950s and quickly gained a reputation as a rugged, maneuverable, and combat-ready attack aircraft. Bureau Number 155061 began its career with the U.S. Navy before transitioning to the Royal Australian Navy as A-4G “874,” operating from HMAS Melbourne. In 1984 the aircraft joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force as NZ6216, later upgraded to A-4K standards and serving until its retirement in 2001.
