This Expeditionary Force boxed set of 5 unpainted and unassembled 60 mm plastic model figures from the “Wars of the Roman Empire” collection and is representative of Early Imperial Roman Auxiliary Cavalry (Equites Singulares)
In the early Imperial Roman era, the Auxiliary Cavalry, known as the Equites Singulares, held a prestigious and vital role within the military hierarchy. These cavalry units were comprised of skilled horsemen recruited from non-citizen populations across the Roman Empire. Renowned for their mobility, speed, and martial prowess, the Equites Singulares served as elite shock troops, adept at reconnaissance, skirmishing, and rapid assaults.
Distinct from the traditional Roman citizen cavalry, the Equites Singulares were often equipped with lighter armor and weaponry, facilitating their swift maneuvers on the battlefield. Their diverse backgrounds brought a wealth of tactical knowledge and experience, contributing to the effectiveness of Roman military campaigns. These auxiliary cavalry units played a crucial role in extending Roman influence and maintaining order throughout the provinces, serving as a formidable force against external threats and internal unrest.
