The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk is an American single-seat, twin-engine stealth attack aircraft that was developed by Lockheed's secretive Skunk Works division and operated by the United States Air Force (USAF). The F-117 was based on the Have Blue technology demonstrator. The Nighthawk was the first operational aircraft to be designed around stealth technology. It’s first flight was June 18th 1981. Nighthawk became operation in October of 1983 and was retired on April 22, 2008. 64 Nighthawks were built, 5 prototypes and 59 production.
This model represents an F-117 from the 8th Fighter Squadron “Black Sheep”, 49th Fighter Wing based at Holloman AFB, New Mexico.
The model is made by Air Force One under the brand name of Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The model has no landing gear and is displayed as if in flight.
This is a worthy addition to your diecast aircraft collection.
