The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX was a British single-seat fighter aircraft that played a crucial role in World War II. It was an evolution of the earlier Spitfire models, incorporating several improvements in performance and capabilities. The Mk.IX variant was specifically designed to counter the threat posed by German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighters.
This Forces Of Valor is a replica of Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX “MK210” “Tolly Hello” flown by Lt. Col Gustav E Lindquest, Test Pilot for USAAF in 1944. The Americans received and modified two Spitfire Mk IX's, serials MK210 and MK317, at Wright field during 1944. Tolly was one of the first Spitfires to cross the Atlantic via Iceland, flown by Gustav. On route, Gustav had to forcefully crash land the Spit in Greenland, where it was for a bit for service repairs. There, a mechanic added the famous pin-up you see now. MK210 was later flown to and tested by the RAF at Boscombe Down.
This display model is a great addition to your collection.
